As city councillor for Old Kildonan, I am committed to keeping residents and businesses informed about issues that matter to the community, and today I am providing an update on the condition of Leila Avenue.
At committee in early spring 2022, I put forward a motion outlining that the section of Leila Avenue from McPhillips Street to McGregor Street was significant deteriorating because of the particularly difficult winter and spring season. Maintenance crews began repairing potholes in March 2022 using the standard cold mix and in May 2022 they began to provide longer lasting repairs with hot asphalt.
I am happy to report that, as part of the City’s of Winnipeg’s accelerated regional street renewal program, both the eastbound and westbound directions lanes of this section of Leila Avenue will be rehabilitated, with construction scheduled to start in 2024.
